United Bank for Africa (UBA) Ghana has been announced as the winner of the Most Sustainable Bank of the Year 2024 category by the Global Business Magazine Awards.

This prestigious recognition underscores UBA Ghana’s unwavering commitment to excellence in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices, reinforcing its position as a leader in sustainable banking.

“We are deeply honoured to receive this award, which reflects our dedication to promoting sustainability…” said Uzoechina Molokwu, Managing Director/CEO of UBA Ghana.

The award acknowledges UBA Ghana’s dedication to ESG standards and highlights her efforts towards financial inclusion and economic empowerment. Recently, the Bank introduced the Braille Account Form, which enables visually impaired customers to easily open accounts and access the bank’s services.

Available at all UBA Ghana branches, the Braille Account package ensures that visually impaired customers can fully participate in the banking experience, further advancing the bank’s goal of inclusivity. They can read the Account Opening forms, and deposit and withdrawal slips that are available in braille at all our Banking Halls across the Country.

UBA Ghana’s dedication to sustainability is evident in its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Previously, the bank was recognized with awards such as “Best CSR Bank Ghana 2023” and earned accolades for its Educational Sustainability Project and Mentorship Programme. These initiatives, includes the National Essay Competition, Read Africa and the “Each-One, Teach-One” programme, which is having a significant impact on education and youth empowerment in Ghana.

Moreover, UBA Ghana’s commitment to integrating sustainable practices into its operations is further reflected in its CSR strategy, which allocates a percentage of the annual profit to environmental and social projects.
