The National Youth Organizer of the govenring New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has issued a stern warning to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), vowing that his party will confront them head-on in the lead-up to the 2024 general elections.
He also assured that the NPP is fully equipped to counter any negative tactics from the NDC, dismissing allegations of promoting violence.
Addressing a mini rally in Takoradi on Saturday, August 17, on the eve of the party’s manifesto launch, Salam Mustapha made a bold statement about the NPP’s commitment to both power and peace in the upcoming polls.
He emphasized that while peace is a valued principle, the NPP will not compromise its hold on power for the sake of maintaining peace.
Speaking ahead of the party’s manifesto launch in Takoradi, Mustapha declared that the NPP will not tolerate the NDC’s threats and will respond with equal force.
“I have not promoted anything [violence]. I only said that the NPP will not be pushed into defeat on the altar of peace. That is all I have said. Our opponents have said they will not sign the Peace Pact, haven’t they? If they won’t sign, what are they looking for? My colleagues in the NDC youth wing said they won’t be victims of peace.”
“And that when we draw daggers, they will also draw daggers. So what do you want us to do? Should we sit down and take roses to them? No, I won’t give them that, nor cheers; no, I won’t give them that either. We will prepare; we are going for an election. If you threaten me, remember the national maxim: to be forewarned is to be forearmed.”
