The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo Dampare has given assurances of maximum security during the voter register exhibition exercise.
He said this when he visited the Electoral Commission (EC) with some management members of the police service ahead of the voter exhibition exercise, in Accra on Monday.
Dr Dampare stated that the police service was fully prepared to deploy personnel to all polling centres where the exhibition exercise will take place.
“Since the commencement of the whole election process, we will be in and out of this place all in the spirit of engagement, in the spirit of working together to ensure that from the security point of view there is peace, security law and order before during and beyond the elections,” he stated.
The IGP has also urged all stakeholders to remain calm as the EC works to resolve any challenges that may arise.
“We urge them (stakeholders) to do their parts within the law and allow us to do our work within the law. So that when all is said and done Ghana will be the beneficiary,” he stated.
