The National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has expressed confidence in the party’s victory in the 2024 elections, stating that the only obstacle to their success is the actions of party members themselves.
Speaking during a youth wing tour of the Upper East Region, Mustapha emphasised the importance of unity among party members to retain power and break the ‘8’.
He assured the party faithful that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is not a significant threat to their victory.
He further emphasised that the party must hold onto power once they have it, as losing would mean going back to chasing power again.
Mustapha expressed optimism about winning the Talensi seat in December, citing data analysis and his understanding of the constituency’s politics.
Mustapha stated, “I am also convinced, beyond doubt, that inshallah, by the Grace of God, we will win the Talensi seat in December. We have been studying the data and all that. I’ve been following the politics of the constituency as well. The only thing that is going to stop the NPP from winning the elections in December is NPP.”
“The election we are going into, the NDC is not our problem. Trust me, the NDC is not the problem of the NPP winning the 2024 elections, no, not at all. The NDC is the least of our problems. They are not stronger than us, there’s nothing they can do more than us.
“They can’t beat us, they can’t use force and take the thing from us, they cannot do anything, so the NDC is not our problem.”
“In terms of numbers, the NPP is bigger than the NDC. We are the majority party in Ghana. We are bigger than the NDC in terms of numbers.
That is why I am telling you that the NDC is not the problem of the NPP going into these elections. The real problem is you and myself, we are the problem, NPP.”
“If we say we are going to win, the next elections we will win. If we don’t want it, then we’ll go home. But let me assure you that in the very unlikely event we lose, we are going to suffer the most because we are the same people who are going to end and go and chase power again. Once we have power, let’s hold it, nobody throws away power.”
