The Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Awutu Senya West constituency, Cassius Otoo Larbi, and two others, have been remanded into police custody by the Awutu Bereku District Court.

The court presided over by Her Ladyship Naomi Konto, made the ruling after the three people were accused of threatening to deal with an eyewitness who caught them removing posters belonging to New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate Eugene Kofi Bentum Arhin.

The posters were allegedly taken down from a machine used for the District Road Improvement Project.

The suspects are to reappear in court on Monday, September 16, 2024, following a five-day remand.

Gizella Tetteh Agbotui, the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya West, expressed concern that her posters had also been removed and described the legal proceedings as “petty.”

However, District Chief Executive for Awutu Senya West, Moses Arhinful Acquah, clarified that the case was not solely about the removal of posters but rather the threat made against an eyewitness who had advised the group to stop removing them.

Acquah also mentioned a previous incident involving Cassius Otoo Larbi and others, where they reportedly disrupted Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia’s address at the annual Awubia Festival by playing loud music.

He indicated that this act had drawn the attention of national security operatives.
