In a significant move, former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has declared his exit from politics, distancing himself from any future affiliations with political parties.

Gyan’s brief involvement in politics began in February 2024, when he attended the campaign launch of NPP Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Shortly after, he was appointed as the chairman of Bawumia’s Youth and Sports Manifesto sub-committee and also joined the vice president in a campaign walk in Akropong in the Eastern Region.

However, in a statement released recently, the 38-year-old football legend admitted that his foray into partisan politics was not in the best interest of Ghanaian youth. Acknowledging this, Gyan vowed to step away from politics altogether.

Looking ahead, Gyan expressed a renewed commitment to youth empowerment, pledging to focus on creating opportunities for young Ghanaians, especially in sports.

He reaffirmed his intent to use his foundation and other available resources to support the nation’s youth, ensuring their growth and success outside the realm of politics.
