A group of unemployed pharmacy technicians calling itself the Concerned Unemployed Pharmacy Technicians Association of Ghana is appealing to the government for clearance and postings.
The group, which has about 700 members, says no pharmacy technician has been given clearance or posted to a health facility since 2021, thereby subjecting them to severe hardships.
A convener of the group, Abdul Warris Inusah, spoke to Citi News, urging the government to intervene to lessen the burden of members of group.
“Going through your education and then you come home and then you are sitting and there is no employment for you. Certainly, you will be frustrated. You and your parents, who paid your fees, are always sitting down doing nothing. You will be frustrated, and your parents will be frustrated.
“Moreover, the skills that we acquired during the schooling time, because we are not in practice, the possibility of you losing some of your skills is very high because you paid for it to come and impact society using your acquired skills, but we are not doing that,” he stated.
