The Koforidua Divisional Police Command is on a manhunt for a group of carjackers terrorising residents of the Eastern regional capital.

About five private vehicles have been reported stolen by this criminal syndicate in less than a week.

Channel One News sources at the regional police command revealed that the criminals, who have in their possession a bunch of master keys and remotes, track their victims to their homes or shops and on their blind side, they try their hands on any of the keys or remotes to see which one can give them access to the vehicle before driving away.

The latest incident happened on Wednesday morning when one senior staff of the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly woke up to see her Hyundai Elantra with registration number ER 584-21 stolen from her car park.

A businesswoman who operates a shop at the Olive Mall opposite the Mile 50 total fuel station at Awoy3 also came downstairs to see her Hyundai Elantra with registration number GE 2028-19 also stolen.

This unfortunate incident has left victims who have reported their stolen vehicles traumatised with several car owners living in fear.

The police, who have commenced investigations after the victims reported the incidents to them, want the general public, especially mechanics and sprayers, to be on the lookout and volunteer information to help with their investigations.
