The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama, has vowed to enhance infrastructure in Zongo communities nationwide, focusing on education and healthcare, if elected in the December Polls.
During a campaign tour in Sunyani in the Bono Region, Mahama addressed Zongo community members, highlighting the need for improved access to quality education and healthcare facilities.
He noted that many schools are distant from Zongo communities, and Islamic schools are scarce.
Mahama promised to address these gaps by building more Islamic secondary schools and establishing new health centres and clinics in the Zongo areas.
According to the flagbearer, these initiatives are outlined in the NDC’s manifesto, demonstrating the party’s commitment to uplifting marginalised communities.
He said, “The challenge is that most schools are far from the Zongos, and there are not enough Islamic schools within these communities. In our manifesto, we have indicated that we will build more Islamic secondary schools.
“Secondly, we have realised that there are not enough health centres and clinics in the Zongos; we will establish new facilities to improve healthcare delivery.”
