94 new licensees

In total, 94 cybersecurity entities were licensed and accredited by the CSA as part of efforts to align Ghana’s cybersecurity standards with global benchmarks.

The presentation ceremony, held in Accra, saw 18 Cybersecurity Service Providers (CSPs), seven Cybersecurity Establishments (CEs), and 69 Cybersecurity Professionals (CPs) officially receive their licenses.

145 entities licensed

This second batch of licenses brings the total number of accredited cybersecurity industry players in Ghana to 145.

Responsibility of licensees

Speaking on behalf of Dr. Albert Antwi-Boasiako, the Director-General of the CSA, Mr. Stephen Cudjoe-Seshie emphasized the responsibility that comes with the accreditation.

He reminded the recipients of the importance of adhering to confidentiality and data protection obligations under the Cybersecurity Act, of 2020 (Act 1038).

He warned that institutions and individuals providing cybersecurity services without proper licensing would face penalties, including administrative sanctions and criminal prosecutions.

Dr. Antwi-Boasiako also encouraged those in the process of obtaining licenses to meet all necessary requirements.

He noted that the CSA, in collaboration with the Public Procurement Authority and other relevant stakeholders, was working to ensure compliance with cybersecurity regulations.

Professionalism and Integrity

Mrs. Adelaide Benneh-Prempeh, a member of the CSA governing board, urged the newly licensed entities to operate with professionalism and integrity, as their conduct would set an example for future industry participants.

Several recipients expressed gratitude to the CSA and committed to maintaining high standards of professionalism in their efforts to secure Ghana’s digital infrastructure.

This licensing initiative marks a significant milestone for Ghana, positioning it as the first African country and the second globally, after Singapore, to implement a comprehensive regulatory framework for cybersecurity service providers, establishments, and professionals.
