As part of its Golden Jubilee celebrations, Sunlodge Hotel Limited at Tesano, Accra, has donated essential items worth 50,000 Ghana cedis to the Dzorwulu Special School.
This marks the hotel’s third donation to the school, following previous contributions during its 30th-anniversary celebration two decades ago.
The donation, made possible through sponsorship from various stakeholders, included sanitary products, detergents, stationery, medical supplies, beverages, biscuits, oil, and bags of rice.
Addressing the media at the event, Obeng Ansong, a member of the hotel’s Board of Directors, emphasised Sunlodge’s commitment to supporting the physically challenged.
“Sunlodge Hotel’s passion is to always assist and support physically challenged individuals. And one of the reasons we are here today is to celebrate with them on the occasion of our 50th anniversary. It’s not the first time. We’ve had over two decades of relationship and today we deem it right to spend some time with them.
“It’s all about corporate social responsibility, and giving back to society and that is one of the reasons why we chose to come celebrate with them. It’s not going to be the end.”
Ms. Ansong pledged to extend the hotel’s support to needy institutions in other regions saying, “When we walked in this morning, they had the various special schools in the various regions of Ghana.
“We didn’t even know about it. So in future, our hope is not just to support Dzorwulu Special School in Greater Accra, but to transcend the boundaries of Greater Accra, to go to other regions to support them as well.”
Headmaster of the Dzorwulu Special School, Frederick Tetteh expressed gratitude to the hotel’s management and entreated other corporate bodies to support the course of the school.
“I’m very excited, this is a government school and the government alone can’t do it all for us. So these donated items are going to help Management take very good care of the students who are in this great institution.”
“I’d like to urge all corporate institutions, churches, philanthropists and individuals who love these kids to come to our aid. And out of that the kids will be extra happy and Management will feel very bold to take very good care of the students who are here.”
