The Ghana Education Service (GES) in the Volta Region says education in the region is expected to receive a significant facelift, especially in rural areas, as over 600 new teachers have been recruited.
The newly posted teachers are expected to report to their posts next Monday following an orientation to introduce them to the field.
The Volta Regional Director of Education, Francis Yao Agbemadi, in a Citi News interview on Friday, called on rural communities to make living conditions comfortable for the newly posted teachers.
“So far we’ve registered about 632, and the purpose of the orientation is to acquaint them with the situations in the professions and the community in which they are going to serve, not only to acquaint them but also to integrate them into the environment. That is the main purpose of the orientation.”
“Huge teacher deficit in the region, especially in the rural areas, and so the newly appointed teachers, the number we’ve got now, is going to our schools, and those schools that we lack teachers, they are now going to get the full complement of teachers and by extension impact knowledge to our children so that quality education delivery will be enhanced in the region.
“I want to urge the communities to create an enabling environment for the teachers when they come,” he stated.
