In a groundbreaking step towards modernization, efficiency, and inclusivity in Ghana’s rental housing sector, Dr. Prince Hamid Armah, Deputy Minister for Works and Housing, has officially launched the Rent Control Department’s Digital Platform.

This new system is set to transform rent administration in the country by digitizing essential services and improving the overall experience for both tenants and landlords.

Speaking at the launch held at the forecourt of the Architecture and Engineering Services Limited (AESL), Dr. Armah emphasized that the initiative marks not just the introduction of new technology but the dawn of a new era for Ghana’s public service.

“This is not just the unveiling of a new technology but the beginning of a bold new chapter in Ghana’s drive toward modernization, efficiency, and inclusivity in our rental housing sector,” Dr. Armah remarked.

He highlighted the Rent Control Department’s crucial role in promoting peaceful coexistence between landlords and tenants and ensuring access to safe, adequate, and affordable housing.

However, he acknowledged that the Department’s manual processes had long hindered this mission, causing inefficiencies, delays, and frustrations for the public.

The Ministry of Works and Housing partnered with Supertech Limited, a leading technology solutions provider, to digitize 15 Rent Control offices across 11 regions in the first phase of the project.

The offices included in this phase are in major cities and towns, allowing Ghanaians nationwide to access rent services more easily.
Dr. Armah stressed that the digital platform would revolutionize the rental housing experience by offering several key benefits.

“This platform is not just a convenience—it is an equalizer,” Dr. Armah noted, emphasizing that it will bring fairness and efficiency to all Ghanaians, regardless of their location or financial circumstances. He also reassured the public that the Ministry is committed to extending the digital transformation to all 16 regions.

The Deputy Minister concluded by unveiling the platform’s web portal, rentcontrol.mwh.gov.gh, and encouraged all Ghanaians to embrace the new system.

He underscored that the launch marks a cultural shift toward transparency, accountability, and empowerment in public service.
