A Police bus driver has been arrested for allegedly knocking down and killing a motorcyclist at Abeka in the early hours of Wednesday, October 30, 2024.
The incident reportedly occurred as the police bus driver attempted to bypass traffic by using the opposite lane, resulting in a fatal collision with the rider.
The crash intensified an already heavy traffic jam stretching from Tesano through the Achimota overhead toward Nsawam.
Felix Aryeetey, a fuel attendant at the Shell station near Abeka Junction, recounted the incident to Citi News, noting that the motorcycle rider died on the spot.
“They are having a passing out ceremony at the police depot and so there has been traffic and the police have taken the other lane of the road and when they are coming, they come on top speed and I heard a crash. A police bus driver knocked down a motorbike rider and the rider died on the spot.”
