The Caravan Campaign Tour of the Movement for Change has been marked by overwhelming endorsements from chiefs nationwide, with many traditional rulers openly and boldly expressing confidence in Mr Alan Kyerematen as the leader who can rescue Ghana from its current economic challenges.
In the Eastern Region, where the leader of the Caravan Campaign Tour, Mrs. Kyerematen, hails from, the story is no different. During a stop at the Akim Oda Palace, Nana Kudre Eseidu, Nifahene of Kotoku, joined the growing number of chiefs endorsing Kyerematen’s presidential bid.
“We know that Alan has the ability, and he has demonstrated it in the past. If given the opportunity, he can alleviate the pain and plight of Ghanaians,” Nana Kudre confidently stated. He also emphasized the importance of a peaceful election and urged political parties to focus on policies rather than violence.
The campaign team, led by Mrs. Kyerematen, was welcomed with traditional pageantry and a large crowd, reflecting the widespread support for Kyerematen. Osiadiyo Oberima, speaking on behalf of the Chief of Oda, highlighted the critical need for constitutional reforms, a key pillar of the Movement for Change. The chief called on Kyerematen to restore the role of traditional leadership in Ghana’s governance system, as he has pledged. “We believe it is time to return power to the traditional authorities who have long been sidelined by the current constitution,” Oberima remarked.
At the Agona Bosome Palace, Nana Akrasi Sarpong II echoed these sentiments, praising the Movement for Change’s respect for traditional leaders, which he said had been neglected by other political parties. “Alan Kyerematen’s decision to leave the New Patriotic Party was long overdue. This is the right time for change,” Nana Akrasi declared, earning applause from the gathered community.
A major concern raised by Nana Akrasi Sarpong was illegal mining, commonly known as “galamsey.” He urged Mrs. Kyerematen to ensure the issue is tackled under her husband’s leadership, as it continues to devastate local rivers. “Our rivers, especially the River Kosiko, are dying. We hope Alan Kyerematen will act swiftly on this issue,” the chief pleaded.
In response, the Coordinator of Mr. Kyerematen’s campaign in the Eastern Region, George Streetor, assured the chief that Kyerematen’s 10-point plan provides a comprehensive solution to the menace, addressing both the root causes and implementing sustainable practices to protect the environment. George also assured the chiefs that Mr. Kyerematen’s Great Transformational Plan (GTP) would restore traditional leaders as co-trustees of the nation’s resources.
Throughout the Eastern Region tour, Kyerematen’s team has been met with enthusiastic crowds. The growing momentum behind Alan Kyerematen’s campaign is clear, as chiefs across the region rally behind him, convinced that he is the leader capable of turning Ghana’s fortunes around. As Nana Akrasi Sarpong aptly stated, “This is the time for real transformation, and Alan Kyerematen is the man to lead it.”
