President of the Ashanti regional council of Zongo Queen Mothers, Hajia Sakinatu Mahama, has lauded the NDC’s, manifesto, expressing excitement that it prioritises the needs of women.
Speaking during the Ashanti Region tour of the NDC’s vice-presidential candidate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Hajia Mahama described the manifesto as a game changer with the potential to address economic hardships and promote development across the country.
She urged the party to prioritise skills training for the youth, particularly by establishing training centers in Zongo communities.
“I’ve heard about the 24-hour economy initiative, which aims to create job opportunities. Additionally, I’ve learned about mechanised agriculture, which seeks to boost farming practices by providing advanced tools and equipment.
“I believe this will help reduce food prices and improve living conditions. Another impactful policy is free tuition for first-year tertiary students, which would be beneficial for everyone.”
Addressing the audience at the Asawase constituency, Prof Opoku-Agyeman criticised the ruling NPP for being responsible for the current economic hardship which she argued has worsened living conditions, particularly for pensioners.
She highlighted proposed initiatives such as the 24-hour economy and the Women’s Development Bank, emphasising their potential to alleviate the current economic challenges faced by Ghanaians.
“Most Ghanaian women are traders, but accessing loans to grow their businesses is challenging due to collateral requirements and high interest rates.
“To address this, the NDC is proposing the Women’s Development Bank. This initiative aims to improve living conditions for Ghanaians, especially women.”
