The University of Ghana Medical Centre has stated that the 16-year-old son of popular pastor Salifu Amoako, who was involved in a fatal accident that killed two young girls at East Legon, is reportedly unfit for police interrogation, despite his recent discharge from the hospital, sources reveal.
This decision has raised concerns among affected families and the public, who suspect it may be an attempt to delay justice.
Families of the deceased girls have expressed frustration, questioning why the police are being restricted from interviewing Elrad, who allegedly caused the crash that led to the deaths when his car, moving at high speed, collided with theirs, igniting it in flames.
“It’s shocking that a doctor would discharge him and then claim he’s still unfit for interrogation. Families are grieving, and this move feels like a denial of justice,” stated a relative of one of the victims.
An anonymous staff member at the University of Ghana Medical Center (UGMC) added, “The boy appears physically well, yet Dr. Fred Salawu is shielding him from questioning. This feels unfair to the victims’ families. Is he receiving special treatment because of his family’s influence?”
The police are reportedly disappointed with the medical officer’s stance, which they view as obstructive to their investigation.
However, they are monitoring the situation closely and maintaining surveillance over Elrad until the physician gives clearance for an interrogation.
The accident, which sparked widespread public outrage, involved Elrad Salifu Amoako’s vehicle ramming into another car with the two young girls, ultimately leading to a tragic fire that claimed their lives.
