Fitch Solutions, a UK-based rating agency, has once again predicted that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is poised to win the 2024 general elections in Ghana.
In its latest report, the agency highlighted that despite a likely NDC victory, there may be little change in the country’s policy direction.
The report explained that although the NDC is expected to secure a win, the new administration would likely maintain Ghana’s current fiscal policies.
This continuation would align with the country’s ongoing International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme, aimed at ensuring fiscal tightening and economic stabilisation.
“In terms of the December 2024 general elections, we think that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is mostly likely to win.
“However, a presumed NDC victory is unlikely to significantly alter Ghana’s policy direction, with the new administration set to continue fiscal tightening in line with the country’s IMF programme,” part of the report noted.
