Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, has expressed strong confidence in leading his party to victory in the December 7 general elections.
Speaking at a rally in Ketu North in the Volta Region—a region traditionally considered a stronghold of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC)—Bawumia underscored the achievements of the NPP government as decisive factors in securing a win over his main contender, former President John Dramani Mahama, the NDC’s flagbearer.
Addressing an enthusiastic crowd, Bawumia emphasized the progress made by the NPP under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his own tenure as Vice President, asserting that their performance surpasses that of Mahama’s previous administration.
After touring more than 200 constituencies across Ghana, Bawumia shared his optimism for the NPP’s chances, declaring to supporters that the party’s accomplishments resonate widely and will pave the way for victory.
“I have been touring over 200 constituencies in Ghana and I can tell you from what I have seen today, I know that we are winning this election. You will hear by the midnight of December that NPP has won this election.”
Bawumia’s visit to the Volta Region, often regarded as the World Bank of the NDC was part of his broader campaign strategy to broaden the NPP’s appeal and secure votes in areas where the party has traditionally had a weaker presence.
Throughout his campaign, Bawumia has consistently emphasised the NPP’s track record in government as a key point of distinction between his party and the NDC.
He pointed to numerous policy achievements that, in his view, demonstrate the NPP’s superior governance and commitment to improving the lives of Ghanaians.
