The Ghana Statistical Association (GSA) has extended a helping hand to Isaiah Amada Awuku, a physically challenged Level 100 student at the University of Ghana, Legon, with a donation of a wheelchair and educational materials.

Isaiah, who has lived with physical challenges since birth, is pursuing his dream of becoming a statistician.

Speaking during the donation ceremony, Professor Nicholas N.N. Nsowah-Nuamah President of the GSA, said he was moved by Isaiah’s story, which was aired on Joy News.

Touched by the student’s determination, Professor Nsowah-Nuamah decided to raise funds to purchase the wheelchair and also provide him with stationery to support his studies.

“We believe in creating opportunities and offering support to those in need,” Professor Nwomah stated. “Our donation to Isaiah is a testament to our commitment to making a positive impact in his life and helping him towards a better future. We hope this wheelchair will significantly enhance his mobility and independence.”

The donation ceremony was held at Dominion University College in Accra, where Professor Nsowah-Nuamah, Vice President of GSA Professor Ezekiel N.N. Nortey, and Deputy General Secretary Mr. James Amewudah, handed over the wheelchair to Isaiah and his family.

The gesture is part of GSA’s ongoing initiative to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities, reflecting their dedication to social responsibility.

Isaiah expressed his profound gratitude to Professor Nsowah-Nuamah and the GSA for their kindness, highlighting the substantial difference the donation would make in his daily life.

“This wheelchair and the learning materials will make a huge difference in my life. I am deeply grateful to the Ghana Statistical Association and Professor Nicholas N.N. Nsowah-Nuamah for their generosity,” he said.

Isaiah’s mother also conveyed her heartfelt thanks, noting how the donation would bring relief to her son and significantly ease their challenges.
