The National Peace Council has called for restraint following a violent clash between supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Mamobi, Accra on Sunday.
One person has been arrested in connection with the violent clashes. The political confrontation, which escalated into a violent altercation, resulted in injuries to nine individuals, stirring tensions within the community.
The police acted swiftly to bring the situation under control and have since initiated efforts to apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the unrest.
The police in an update on Monday assured the public that investigations into the disturbances were still ongoing.
The Peace Council in a statement issued on Monday, October 14, “urged all the parties in this unfortunate incident to exercise circumspection and restraint to prevent any further escalation as the Council is actively involved with other stakeholders to prevent a re- occurrence.
“The Council encourages all Ghanaians to use non-violent mechanisms for addressing grievances instead of resorting to violent methods to ensure sustainable peace.”
