An 11-year-old Ghanaian basic school pupil has released a song to campaign for peace dubbed The Sound Of Unity as the nation prepares for presidential and parliamentary elections scheduled to take place on December 7, 2024.

The December 7 general elections will be crucial in determining the country’s next president and members of Parliament.

Some of the notable presidential candidates include Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alan Kyerematen of the Movement For Change and Nana Kwame Bediako of The New Force Movement.

The composer of the song, Sound of Unity, Minhyira Morrison (Chayil Muziq) of Reggie The Queen Montessori School, in Accra, is appealing to all political party leaders to make a commitment toward peace before, during and after the December polls.

The Sound of Unity features messages from the Minister of Works and Housing, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Legal Practitioner, Samson Lardy Anyenni, and the Member of Parliament for Madina Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Francis-Xavier Sosu.

Speaking to journalists at the launch of the project in Accra, Joojo Morrison, father and head of the management team of Chayil Muziq, expressed his excitement about the initiative and advised parents to support their wards who have interests in the arts.

He pledges to guide Minhyira’s career by promoting unity and progress through music.

“We need a peaceful and united country where our children can grow and realise their dreams without fear of being harmed. This is what Chayil’s Sound of Peace is advocating for,” he said.
