Mrs. Jennifer Anane-Nsiah, Human Resources Manager at Channel One TV and Citi FM, has achieved a significant milestone in her career by being inducted as a Senior Certified HR Professional.
This honor was conferred during the HR Professionals Summit and Awards, an event held under the theme, “Agile HR: Adapting to Business Change.”
The summit, which brought together HR professionals from across the country, celebrated excellence and innovation in human resource management.
Mrs. Anane-Nsiah’s induction was among the key highlights, along with the recognition of other accomplished HR practitioners.
Speaking to Citi Business News on Friday, November 29, her peers reflected on the rigorous process involved, underscoring the commitment required to excel in a field that demands adaptability and strategic thinking.
“We just gave ourselves “Shark” just to motivate us to study. The journey hasn’t been easy because we meet every evening after work and look at how you go through the stress during the day at the workplace and you have to come and prepare yourself to study for about 2-3 hours. It hasn’t been easy but we motivated each other.
“It hasn’t been easy at all and we believed in God. Everything we learnt, everything we studied, we are going to bring it into the office and we going to implement everything we learnt and studied as a group,” Gifty Addo-Kissi said.
Delivering his keynote address as the Guest of Honor, the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Professor Samuel Antwi, highlighted the critical role of agile HR practices in fostering sustainable success for both employees and organizations.
He underscored the importance of leveraging data to inform strategic decisions, especially in navigating the complexities of modern business environments.
“I will give you a few things to think about as this shift requires a multifaceted approach. Think about data-driven decision-making. It is not all about this is how we used to do it. Let your data speak to you. All this plenty of performance appraisal you worry us with what do you do with it? Every day we fill, we write. You don’t do anything about it. Go and do something about it.
“So let data drive your decisions. Empower the employees. There are too many employees that are not empowered. What they knew 20 years ago is the same thing they are doing and no improvement, HR director, you are always on us that change must come. How will it come? Let the data speak to you and look at individuals, department levels….how can we improve?” he posited.
Founder and Chairman of the HR Certification Center, Dr. Jeff Bassay, on his part emphasized the importance of prioritizing employee engagement as a cornerstone of organizational success.
He noted that engaged employees are more likely to drive innovation and deliver exceptional results.
“No organization will outgrow the collective knowledge and experiences of those who ran it. Organizations level of success will always be commensurate to the knowledge and experience of those who ran it. Lens number 2 is the organization’s customer satisfaction and that’s quite different from sales…where people are satisfied with you when they buy your services and product and of course, the third is the organization’s cash flow.
“If you look at it very carefully, you will realize that the second is heavily reliant on the first one. Once you miss out on your people’s engagement, chances are that your customer satisfaction beat may not go well …chances are that you might as well forget about your cash flow,” he said.
The event also featured two insightful panel discussions. The first panel discussion, themed “Employee Experience in the Digital Age,” highlighted the growing importance of safeguarding employee data privacy. Panelists urged HR leaders to prioritize data protection as organizations increasingly rely on digital tools to manage employee experiences.
They noted that maintaining trust through robust data privacy measures is crucial in an era where technology plays a central role in HR operations.
The second panel discussion focused on “Emotional Intelligence in HR Leadership,” where panellists stressed the need for HR practitioners to develop emotional intelligence to better understand and address employee concerns.
They emphasized that emotional intelligence helps practitioners avoid misjudging people and fosters a more inclusive and empathetic workplace culture.
