The world-acclaimed, Grammy-nominated Queen of Dancehall, reggae artiste, Grace Latoya Hamilton, popularly known as Spice, made a significant impact in Ghana on Friday, November 22, 2024, by donating essential items to students of three basic schools in the La Dade Kotopon Municipality in Accra.

This charitable act was undertaken in collaboration with the MYO Global Foundation as part of Spice’s tour in Ghana. The contribution shows both organizations’ commitment to fostering educational development in underserved communities.

In a significant move to support early childhood education in Ghana, MYO Global has partnered with Grammy-nominated reggae artist Grace “Spice” Hamilton to provide essential educational resources to students at La Anglican Basic School.

The beneficiary schools included:

1. La Anglican 1 Junior High School,

2. La Anglican 2 Junior High School, and

3. Anglican AME A Primary School.

During the donation ceremony, Spice, who has risen from humble beginnings in Old Britan, Jamaica, to achieve international acclaim, shared her personal journey with the students. “Education opened doors for me that I never imagined possible,” stated the reggae superstar. “It’s crucial that we invest in these young minds and provide them with the tools they need to succeed.”

The donation comprised a range of essential items, including:

– School uniforms for students in need

– New designer school shoes to ensure proper school attendance

– Educational materials including whiteboards

– Essential hygiene supplies

– Nutritional snacks for students

Additionally, a cash donation was made to support the schools.

Speaking at the ceremony, Sarah Matey, Headmistress of La Anglican Basic School, expressed her gratitude, emphasizing the profound impact of the donation.

“Many of our students face significant economic challenges that impact their ability to fully participate in their education. These uniforms and shoes will make a tremendous difference in their daily lives and academic journey,” she said.

The schools, though located in the heart of the city of Accra, face significant challenges, and the donation provided much-needed relief for students and teachers alike.

The initiative highlights the MYO Global Foundation’s dedication to community development and educational empowerment. The organization continues to identify opportunities to uplift communities, focusing on youth development and educational support.

Miss Deborah Opoku Sarfo, the Projects Officer of MYO Global Foundation, underscored the importance of such initiatives, she stated, “When children have access to proper educational resources, they’re better positioned to focus on their studies and achieve their full potential. We’re honoured to partner with Spice on this important initiative that aligns perfectly with our mission of empowering communities through education.”

The partnership between MYO Global Foundation and Spice exemplifies how corporate entities and influential entertainment figures can collaborate to create positive social change. Their joint efforts have not only addressed immediate needs but also inspired students to dream big and pursue their education with renewed vigour.

This collaboration serves as a model for leveraging partnerships to drive impactful change, empowering young minds to shape a brighter future.
