The Ghana Police Service (GPS) has assured the public of its commitment to maintaining peace and order during and after the upcoming December 7 elections.
Speaking at the peace pact signing event in Accra on Thursday, November 28, Inspector General of Police, Dr George Akuffo Dampare, emphasised that the police will not be a source of disturbance.
Dr Dampare outlined the police’s comprehensive strategy to ensure a peaceful electoral process, highlighting the deployment of patrol teams to respond swiftly to any emergencies.
He reassured the public that the police are dedicated to creating a safe environment for all voters.
Dr Dampare also urged all stakeholders to play their roles effectively to ensure that the country’s peace was safeguarded.
“We will not be and I want to emphasise we will not be the source or allow ourselves to be the source that will corrupt the peace that we cherish so much, and we also urge all the stakeholders to also play their parts so that they are also not the source or allow themselves to be the source of anything that disturbs the peace of this country,” he stated.
