Geo Anointing Construction Limited has threatened to initiate legal action against the Ga South Municipal Assembly for breaking into the Galilea M/A Basic School a few days after locking up the school for non-payment of money then by GetFund.
Citi News understands that the Municipal Chief Executive for Ga South Joseph Nyani Stephen in the company of some military attaches of the assembly broke the padlocks of the classrooms allowing access to the school without payment being made to the contractor by Getfund.
Geo Anointing Construction Limited on November 21, locked up the Galilea M/A Basic School for the second time after GetFund reneged on its promise of paying monies owed to the contractor after completion of the six-unit classroom block.
Spokesperson for Geo Anointing Construction Limited Emmanuel Addo Okai tells Citi News they will place an injunction on the facility to deny Ghana Education Service from using it.
“A day or two after we had come to lock this particular school, we heard that the MCE Joseph Nyani in the company of the Member of Parliament for the area Sylvester Tetteh and some military attaché of the assembly broke the locks to the classroom allowing access to school children.
“We are a wholly owned Ghanaian company, and we cannot sit and watch as the Assembly intimidate us. We have decided to be civil and not engage in any sort of confrontation and so we have initiated legal action against the Assembly. You award us a contract and we have done our due by building the school, but the Assembly has failed to pay us our money.
“We have instructed our lawyers to take up the matter. We will put an injunction on the structure denying the Ghana Education Service access to the facility. This is not done anywhere because our bankers are chasing us for their money and have even ceased some of our properties,” the spokesperson told Citi News.
