The Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) has indicated that it has resolved issues regarding the harassment of traders over taxes.
The Ghana Revenue Authority, in its bid to recoup revenue from traders, stationed its officers in traders’ shops to monitor sales and tax invoices.
This issue has been a major concern to stakeholders, including Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Speaking to the media at a stakeholder engagement in Accra on November 14, GUTA’s Vice President, Clement Boateng, noted that matters have been settled, and they believe that any political party that wins the 2024 elections will implement a robust tax system to ease pressure on the economy.
“All the flag bearers have told us that whoever assumes power will make sure the tax regime is structured for fair competition between the businesses for our industry. This time around it is not the situation where we will sit there.
“We have all contributed our quota to the manifesto of the various flag-bearers when it comes to the VAT regime, and they have assured us that whoever comes to power will ensure that whatever you have presented before him will be administered”.
