Hassan Ayariga, the presidential candidate for the All People’s Congress (APC), has committed to a strong anti-corruption stance if he wins the 2024 general elections.
During an event organised by the Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC), in Accra, on November 14, Ayariga emphasized his intention to deter corruption by implementing rigorous accountability measures, beginning with a symbolic act of spending his first night as President in prison.
“I pledge on my honour that I shall never engage in corruption in my lifetime as President, as a father, as a young man, or in any capacity in Ghana. When I become President, I will spend my first night in prison.
“This will signal that anyone caught in corruption under my leadership will face the same treatment. Let us be serious.”
The action, he clarified, would serve as a strong declaration of his administration’s unwavering stance against corruption, delivering a distinct message to those considering engaging in such activities during his tenure.
