Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, has reaffirmed his commitment to abolishing the contentious E-Levy if elected in the 2024 general elections.

He also reiterated his pledge to eliminate import duties on mobile phones, making them more accessible to Ghanaians.

During his engagement with the youth in Accra on Sunday, November 3, Dr Bawumia promised to provide smartphones at affordable rates, promoting digital inclusion and empowerment.

This move aims to bridge the technology gap and foster economic growth.

By implementing these initiatives, Dr. Bawumia aims to drive Ghana’s economic growth, promote digitalization, and improve the lives of citizens.

“I will also be abolishing import duties on mobile phones until manufacturing capacity is established in Ghana. So that we can put smartphones and other phones in the hands of the Ghanaian people at an affordable rate. On this digital journey, we will also abolish the E-levy, as we have already stated before.”

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has pledged to provide tax amnesty to businesses, alleviating financial strain and promoting economic growth.

This move aims to support businesses struggling with overdue taxes, allowing them to refocus resources on growth and job creation.
