The Paramount Chief of Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, has been re-elected as the President of the National House of Chiefs.

In a closely contested election held on Friday, November 22, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II secured 42 votes, defeating Dormaahene Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, who garnered 30 votes.

Additionally, Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II was elected as Vice President of the House, winning 54 out of 73 votes to outpace three other contenders.

Despite initial objections from some members regarding the legitimacy of holding the election on November 22, the House resolved the concerns through a passed motion, allowing the election to proceed as scheduled.

After being sworn in, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II expressed gratitude to the House and pledged to uphold Ghana’s cultural heritage.

He emphasized the importance of unity among members and called for collective efforts to ensure peaceful national elections.

The re-elected President also highlighted plans to digitize the House’s operations to enhance efficiency and pledged to address pending litigation issues comprehensively.
