A group of assembly members of the Ellembelle District Assembly in the Western Region, identified as Concerned Ellembelle Assembly Members have called on the Auditor General to investigate the District Chief Executive of Ellembelle, Kwesi Bonzoh, District Finance Officer and former Coordinating Director for abuse of office and financial breaches.
Addressing journalists, the spokesperson for the Concerned Ellembelle Assembly Members, Paul Kodwo Kwaw, who is also Kikam Assembly Member accused the DCE and his team of spending the assembly’s revenue from January 2024 to date without approval by the General Assembly of the Ellembelle District among other abuses which is in breach of section 117, sub-section 1 of the Local Government Act of 2016, Act 936, therefor must be investigated.
“Abuse of office and the disregard of the standing orders in the Local Government Act 2016, Act 936, which regulates how the Assembly is managed, and disregard of the financial regulations enacted by Parliament led by the DCE of Ellembelle, Kwesi Bonzoh, who is currently using the logistics and revenue of the Assembly for his personal political ambition, under the guise of so-called community engagement.
“We call on the presiding member to institute a commission of inquiry immediately investigate Kwesi Bonzoh, District Finance Officer and former Coordinating Director into the spending of the revenue received in January 2024 to date.”
