Suspend planned strike – FWSC pleads with CLOGSAG

The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) has called on the Civil and Local Governance Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) to reconsider its decision to begin a strike on Thursday, November 7, 2024.

CLOGSAG, representing civil and local government workers, announced plans for the strike, citing frustration with the government’s delayed implementation of a long-negotiated salary structure.

CLOGSAG on November 4, stated that the government’s failure to execute the proposed salary adjustments—agreed upon in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) over a year and a half ago—has left members with no choice but to take action.

However, the FWSC is urging CLOGSAG to halt the strike and return to negotiations, emphasizing the government’s commitment to resolving the salary dispute.

“We wish to emphasise that the government is prepared to engage CLOGSAG in finding lasting solutions to its demands without undermining the principles underpinning the Single Spine Pay Policy.

“We, therefore, urge CLOGSAG to rescind its decision to embark on the strike action and return to the negotiating table for a timely resolution of their concerns,” part of the statement read.
