Midwest Correspondent Kane Farabaugh says the US is likely to see a tight race for the presidency, emphasising that the outcome of the electoral college votes is likely to be very close.
Farabaugh noted that while national opinion polls show Vice President Kamala Harris holding a slight advantage over former President Donald Trump, the situation is much more competitive in critical battleground states such as Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, where polling results are nearly even.
In an interview on Eyewitness News on Citi FM on Tuesday, he stated, “It is going to be a very close result at least as it pertains to the electoral college votes.”
Adding “The opinion polls shows while nationally Vice President Kamala Harris has a slight advantage over former president Trump, in the critical states like Wisconsin and Michigan and Pennsylvania they are polling almost even and the outcome of just five to seven states in these results will determine who the president is.”
Addressing concerns about the reliability of polls, Farabaugh acknowledged the potential for inaccuracies, recalling the unexpected results of the 2016 election.
But he said pollsters have since adjusted their methodologies.
“The polls can get it wrong again in like they did in 2016, but pollsters will tell you that they have modified the way they ask questions and that they have modified their processes so that they can provide more accurate results,” he said.
