Patsy Widakuswara, White House Bureau Chief for Voice of America (VOA), has provided insights into the current mood of Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign as voting continues in the presidential election.
In an interview on Channel One Newsroom, Widakuswara noted that the campaign was focused, calm, and confident, emphasising that voting has already begun, with over 80 million votes cast—approximately half of the total electorate from the 2020 election.
She stated, “Right now the mood of the Harris campaign is trying to stay focused and calm and confident and as you mentioned the voting has started and so many votes have already been cast.
“…More than 80 million votes to be correct. This is about half of the electorate that voted in 2020. So, we won’t know the results until later tonight.”
Discussing voter participation, Widakuswara highlighted that typical turnout in the U.S. hovers around 65%, with the highest recorded at 69%.
She remarked, “Usually in the US voter participation would have around 65%. The last time I think the highest was 69%…For American standard I think it has actually gone high.”
