The Bono Regional Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Charles Akowua, has expressed confidence that the party will retain its parliamentary seats in the upcoming December 7 general elections.
His remarks come in response to assertions by the Bono Regional Research Officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Osei Karikari, who claimed that Ghanaians trust the policies and projects of the NPP, which he said would guarantee a victory for the party.
Karikari further suggested that the NPP’s loss of seats to the NDC in the Bono Region during the last election was due to internal disputes within the party, which have now been resolved.
In a rebuttal, Akowua dismissed these claims, asserting that the NDC’s track record and connection with the electorate in the region will ensure their victory.
He maintained that the NDC’s policies resonate more strongly with the needs of the people, making the party the preferred choice.
“Based on what they have done and ensuring that all the factions have come on board, they are hoping to win 10 seats in the constituency in the upcoming December election”. He stated.
In response to Henry’s claim, Charles revealed that the party is very certain about maintaining the parliamentary seat for the Bono region, thus the outcomes of their work will prove to the constituents whether they deserve the seat or not.
“We went into the 2020 election with just one constituency but we ended up winning five extra constituencies and we are hoping we improve upon what we have, but will not promise anyone the number of seats that we are going to win. We are working, and the outcome of our work will prove to everybody that we have worked ourselves out”.
“For some of us, we will not tell you what we are going to do, but our MPs have worked themselves out, they have given all they can to their people. The little resources that they receive from the government are used to the satisfaction of the constituents. We believe we are going to maintain our seats and make sure, if God permits we will add something, but I am not going to give you a definite number,” He stated.
