The Akrofuom District Assembly has added onto the plethora of developmental projects in the district by inaugurating three more projects.
On 3rd of December 2024, the MP and DCE of Akrofrom district in separate ceremonies commissioned the projects.
The District Chief Executive, Dr. Maurice Jonas Woode in an interaction with the media said the decision to put up the school blocks was informed by the level of infrastructural gaps in schools within the district.
He said in his tenure as DCE, the district has witnessed massive infrastructural development including the construction of 19 school blocks.
Dr. Woode said the Assembly was poised to build more at places without any fit for purpose school block, the reason for the construction of the 2-unit KG blocks.
On the Clinic at Kubi, Dr. Woode said the residents had to walk long distances to access quality healthcare at Dunkwa.
“As you may know, Kubi is now a mining town and the population keeps on growing. There was the need to put up this clinic to make it easier for them to access quality healthcare at their doorsteps than traveling as far as Dunkwa to seek medical care.”
Funded by the Mineral Development Fund, Dr. Woode said the fund has been used judiciously in the district adding that the clinic was the third project funded by the MDF.
The Fund also facilitated the construction of a 20-seater water closet facility with washrooms at Akrofrom and a 12-seater WC at Wamase.
Determined to do more, Dr. Woode said other classroom blocks are at various stages of completion and expected to be commissioned soon.
He said the classroom blocks at Nyamebekyere, Botwe and Manukrom are at advanced levels of completion.
On the impending elections, he advised the youth to stay away from all forms of violence before and after the elections.
“Elections is a means to share your opinions, I am happy to report that the Special Voting went peaceful with no reported incidents.
“We have put measures in place to ensure that the main elections remain same hence we caution everybody to help maintain the existing peace.”
Oh his part, Alex Blankson, the MP for Akrofrom commended the Minerals Development Fund for its impact and contributions towards the development of mining areas.
