Courage Nobi, Deputy Director of Policy for the Movement for Change, has dismissed claims that the reported defection of 500 members to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will impact the Movement’s performance in the December 7 elections.
The individuals in question recently pledged their support for the NPP’s presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, citing the Movement for Change’s perceived lack of capacity and resources to win the polls.
Responding to the development, Nobi accused the NPP of fabricating the announcement, asserting that the purported defectors were never members of the Movement for Change.
The Movement for Change remains confident in its ability to perform strongly in the upcoming elections, despite the allegations.
“There is no cause for worry for the Movement for Change. We have since January known and anticipated some of these silly antics by the ruling party to try and create a narrative that does not reflect the realities on the grounds. We don’t know those members.
“They are not part of our officials in the region. They are not part of the officials we have, even at the local level. So NPP people should feel free to go about and do their business as NPP people.”
