The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Odododiodioo constituency, Abdul Mannaf Sowah, has refuted allegations of vote buying levelled against him by Alfred Nii Kotey Ashie, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate.
Mannaf Sowah clarified that he provided food and transportation support to some security personnel during his campaign purely on humanitarian grounds and not to sway their votes.
He made these remarks while monitoring the special voting exercise at the Jamestown Police Station on Monday, December 2, 2024.
“I do not know where he got such information from, because I am the candidate and I have every right to campaign. We need to engage them and tell them your vision as to why they should vote for you.
“Some people came from a long distance so just to relieve some transportation tension I just decided to give them something for transportation. So that is what I did. I was able to talk to about 50 people on why they should vote for me. So I don’t know where they are getting that information from”.
He also dismissed claims of plotting to disrupt the polls on Saturday with thugs.
“I don’t even have plans on that, the police are there to do their normal duties. But maybe they have plans of bringing in Macho men and stuff, but for us we are cool.
“Whatever information we get we have given it to the police, unlike me coming to the media to disseminate it. The police are there to do their work so such information will be given to them”.
