A former Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Asawase Constituency and a scrap dealer, Yakubu Adams, popularly known as Yakubu Tony Aidoo, has donated over 30,000 cartons of assorted drinks, mineral water, and biscuits to 28 constituencies in the Ashanti Region.
The donation is aimed at supporting the NDC’s polling station agents in the Ashanti Region for the upcoming December 7 general elections.
A devoted member of the NDC, Tony Aidoo, said the gesture is part of his determination to contribute to the party’s success in the 2024 elections.
Speaking to the media, he emphasized that his gesture was intended to empower polling station agents and grassroots supporters to work diligently before, during, and after the elections to ensure victory for the party.
He noted that some agents often complain about hunger during election day while safeguarding the party’s ballots.
He believes that providing these supplies will boost morale and motivate the agents to remain committed to the party’s cause.
Mr. Yakubu also used the opportunity to call on other party members, especially former appointees, to contribute their share to the party at this critical moment.
He urged them to leverage the benefits they enjoyed while in government to help recapture power in the December 7, 2024 elections.
Faisal Dauda, the Asawase Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), expressed gratitude on behalf of the beneficiary constituencies.
He commended Yakubu Tony Aidoo for his thoughtful gesture, especially during a time when unity and support are crucial for the party’s success.
He also appealed to the party leadership to remember and empower the youth who are passionate and consistently contribute to the party’s progress. Empowering such individuals, he said, would encourage others to follow suit.
Mr. Dauda highlighted that Yakubu Adams has never held any political appointment within the party yet continues to provide significant support.
He lauded his dedication and called on others to emulate his example.
