Dominic Nitiwul, the Member of Parliament for Bimbilla and Ghana’s Minister of Defence, has emerged victorious in his bid to retain his parliamentary seat following the conclusion of the polls held today.
This victory not only reaffirms his political stronghold in the Bimbilla constituency but also underscores his continued influence and popularity among his constituents. He came to Parliament as the youngest Parliamentarian at the time.
After collation, Nitiwul garnered 34,553 votes to secure his position against his closest contender, Joseph Kwabena Manboah-Rockson of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Manboah-Rockson polled 29240 votes.
Nitiwul’s victory is particularly notable given the heightened competition and anticipation surrounding this election. As one of the prominent figures in the NPP, his retention of the Bimbilla seat bolsters the party’s position in the Northern region and adds to its list of successes in Saturday’s nationwide polls.
Since first being elected as MP for Bimbilla in 2004, Nitiwul has steadily risen through the ranks of Ghanaian politics.
His tenure as Defence Minister has further elevated his profile, as he has played a pivotal role in addressing security challenges and ensuring stability across the country.
His re-election marks yet another chapter in a political career characterized by dedication to service, strategic leadership, and a commitment to national development.
Nitiwul’s triumph is also emblematic of the broader dynamics at play in the 2024 elections, which saw a mix of surprises and reaffirmations across various constituencies.
