In a heartfelt Christmas message to the people of Ghana, President-elect John Dramani Mahama has reiterated his unwavering determination to foster an all-inclusive and prosperous nation.

In his Christmas address, Mahama extended warm festive wishes to all Ghanaians, emphasising the significance of the season as a time for hope, reflection, and renewed inspiration.

Drawing on the values exemplified by the life of Jesus Christ, Mahama underscored the importance of service, compassion, and justice in nation-building.

“Christmas is a season of hope and renewed inspiration…As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and the values He lived in His own life, I wish to thank you, the good people of Ghana, for bestowing on me the opportunity to serve you as your President and Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces.”

He went on to pledge his commitment to creating a Ghana that truly works for all its citizens. “I wish to also reaffirm my determination to build a nation that works for all, a prosperous and democratic state anchored in the principles of freedom, justice, accountability, and equal opportunities for all,” he stated.

Below is Mahama’s message.

Mahama’s message comes on the heels of his victory in the December 7 presidential election.

The Electoral Commission (EC) officially declared John Dramani Mahama the winner of the presidential election on Monday, December 9, cementing his place as the next leader of the nation after President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Mahama secured 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55 percent of the valid votes cast, a decisive victory over his closest contender, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who received 4,657,304 votes, accounting for 41.61 percent.
