Highlife star Kuami Eugene has acknowledged the significant hurdles that Ghanaian artistes face in their pursuit of Grammy recognition.

In an interview on Cape Coast-based Property FM, Kuami Eugene surprisingly stated that it would require grace, persistent hard work, and strong industry connections for a Ghanaian artist to win a Grammy.

“When we talk about the Grammys we ought to know that we are now taking baby steps and even in Ghana promoting a song demands an artiste to pay for promo.”He said

Touching on the current state of the Ghanaian music industry, the 2020 TGMA Artiste Of the Year noted that even basic promotion often requires artistes to invest their funds.

“And how do you expect us to move from here straight to the Grammys when people demand payment before our songs are played on the airwaves…When we start these Grammys conversations it will take so much for a Ghanaian to win at the Grammys because you have to gather the masses.” He added

Known in real life as Eugene Kwame Marfo, Kuami Eugene suggested that while we’re making progress, there’s still a long way to go before we can truly compete on the global stage ” And looking at our population we are about four times or more the size of Nigeria and so it will take grace, so much work and connections to win the Grammys,”
