The Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, K.T. Hammond, has threatened legal action against broadcaster Blessed Godsbrain Smart, widely known as Captain Smart unless he issues a public retraction and apology for alleged defamatory tribal comments attributed to him in a viral video.

This development follows the circulation of a video in which Captain Smart and a co-host allegedly made remarks attributing tribal comments to K.T. Hammond.

These comments purportedly suggested that Hammond questioned how “an Ewe person” could occupy a parliamentary seat in Adansi Asokwa, located in the Ashanti Region.

The allegations have sparked significant public debate, with many calling for clarity on the issue. K.T. Hammond has denied making such remarks and has demanded that Captain Smart retract the statements and apologize to avoid legal proceedings.

“The said statements that you attributed to our client were not only untrue, but the same amount to a very serious libel on him and have caused him considerable distress and embarrassment. All the allegations made against him are false and your attack on him was unjustified,” part of the statement read.

As a result, KT Hammond, through his legal representation, is demanding A Full Retraction and Apology, Compensation, Legal Costs and also, Non-repetition Undertaking.

The letter concluded by stating “We look forward to hearing from you without delay. If we have not received a satisfactory reply by Wednesday, December 18, 2024, our instructions are to issue a Writ.”
