Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, has successfully retained his parliamentary seat for Techiman South following a court-mandated re-collation of election results at the Electoral Commission’s (EC) regional office in Accra.

The re-collation was necessitated by disputes surrounding the initial results of the Techiman South constituency, which became a focal point of controversy during the 2024 elections.

Allegations of irregularities prompted the court to order a re-evaluation of the results to ensure fairness and transparency.

The re-collation exercise, conducted under strict security, confirmed Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah’s victory with 46,663 votes.

His closest rival, Christopher Beyere Baasongti of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, garnered 43,429 votes,

Background and Broader Implications

The Techiman South re-collation is part of a larger effort by the EC to address disputes in constituencies where results were challenged.

Tensions in Techiman South had escalated post-election, with both the NPP and NDC claiming victory. The court’s directive to re-collate votes was seen as a crucial step toward resolving the impasse.

The EC’s confirmation of Korsah’s win effectively ends weeks of uncertainty in Techiman South, allowing the constituency to move forward.

The peaceful conclusion of the re-collation exercise has been widely praised as a testament to the importance of judicial oversight and institutional transparency in maintaining electoral integrity.

Korsah’s win adds to the NPP’s growing list of parliamentary successes, reinforcing its presence in the 2024 elections.
