The Agona West Constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expelled 280 members, including the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Cynthia Morrison, effective December 16, 2024.

The decision was reached unanimously during an Expanded Constituency Executive Committee meeting on December 15, 2024.

The expelled members have been banned indefinitely from holding themselves out as party members, holding any position within the party, attending or participating in any party meetings or activities, and using any party symbols or flags.

This action follows several complaints from other party members against the expelled individuals for standing as independent candidates, joining or declaring support for other political parties, and supporting independent candidates in the recent parliamentary election.

The decision was communicated by Alhaji Gibrine Tanko, the Constituency Chairman in a statement dated December 16, who emphasised that the party’s constitution mandates such actions to maintain discipline and unity within the party.
