The Ghana Police Service has strongly refuted claims of a purported disturbance on the roads in Nsawam Adoagyiri.

This statement was issued in response to a viral video showing individuals allegedly protesting the Electoral Commission’s (EC) re-collation exercise on December 21, 2024, blocking roads and setting fires.

In a statement released on December 21, the Police described the allegations as baseless, emphasizing that the events depicted in the video do not correspond with the re-collation exercise, which took place in Accra on the same day.

The Police urged the public to disregard the video and refrain from spreading unverified information that could incite unnecessary panic or tension.

The statement also reaffirmed the Police Service’s commitment to maintaining peace and security during the ongoing electoral processes and cautioned against the circulation of false or misleading reports.

“We wish to state that the claim is false and has no correlation with today’s collation exercise in Accra. The said incident is a reported case under investigation which occurred on 8th December 2024.”

The police have announced that the incident, which was reported on December 8, 2024, is currently under investigation.

They have advised the public to ignore the misleading information and to stay calm, as there is a sufficient presence of security personnel in and around Nsawam Adoagyiri to uphold law and order.
