The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged security officers to remain loyal to the state and disregard any unlawful directives from politically motivated individuals.
Mustapha Gbande, the Deputy General Secretary of NDC in a statement sighted by Citi News on Friday, December 6, highlighted concerns about recent military deployments and the public sharing of ammunition, which he described as unprofessional.
“We have taken notice of several military deployments and sharing of ammunition publicly with weapons on the floor. We will keep it on record the unprofessional method adopted by the military hierarchy in their deployments,” Gbande stated.
He called on Ghanaians who are ready to vote for change to remain calm and vigilant, assuring them that the NDC leadership has the situation under control.
Gbande emphasised that the government does not have total control over the military, police service, and other security agencies, but any unlawful actions would be handled appropriately.
“We urge all officers in uniform who believe in the change and rule of law to maintain their loyalty to the state and disobey any unlawful command/directives from power-hungry political party loyalists,” he added.
Gbande also reassured party members to remain calm, stating that the Inspector General of Police would be held accountable for any infractions.
He encouraged Ghanaians to document any unlawful interferences by officers in uniform for evidence.
“Ghana is not at war, the elections will remain peaceful. The incoming president and elders of the party are keenly observing the situation as it unfolds,” Gbande added.

Good afternoon,
UPDATE ON SECURITY
We have taken notice of several military deployments and the sharing of ammunition publicly with weapons on the floor. We will keep it on record the unprofessional method adopted by the military hierarchy in their deployments.
We entreat the members and the well-meaning Ghanaians who are ready to vote for a change under the guarantee of the 1992 constitution to remain calm and also maintain the level of vigilance required.
Leadership has the situation under full control, the government does not have total control over the military, police service and all other security agencies. In the event of any unlawful actions same will be handled in the manner as required.
We urge all officers in uniform who believe in the change and rule of law to maintain their loyalty to the state and disobey any unlawful command/directives from power-hungry political party loyalists.
Let me assure the rank and file of the party to remain calm, as the inspector general of police will account squarely for any possible infractions.
Take videos and pictures of all unlawful interferences of officers in uniform for evidence sake, mobilize and resist any attempt to intimidate civilians at any level without recourse.
Ghana is not at war, the elections will remain peaceful.
The incoming president and elders of the party are keenly observing the situation as it unfolds.
Thank you
Deputy General Secretary, NDC.
