Jacob Edem Nuworsah, a constituent of Trobu has filed a legal motion seeking to restrain Gloria Owusu from holding herself as the Member of Parliament-elect.
The motion, filed at the High Court, challenges the legitimacy of Owusu’s election victory in the December 7 parliamentary polls.
The plaintiff alleges that there were significant irregularities and inconsistencies in the electoral process that undermined the validity of the results.
The motion calls for the court to issue an injunction preventing Owusu from assuming the role of MP-elect until the matter is resolved.
Gloria Owusu, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, was declared the winner of the Trobu parliamentary seat, defeating her main opponent from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
However, the legal challenge raises questions about the integrity of the election and the procedures followed during the collation and declaration of results.
The petitioner seeks an order for the re-collation of results in the Trobu constituency.
“An order of interlocutory injunction restraining and preventing the 1st respondent holding herself out as Member of Parliament of the 4th Republic of Ghana until the final determination of this suit.”
