Vote with economic realities in mind – Prof Opoku-Agyemang tells security services

The Vice Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has called on security services, the media, and other agencies participating in Monday’s special voting exercise to consider voting for the NDC.

Speaking to journalists on Sunday, December 1 in Cape Coast, following a meeting with regional Muslim leaders, she emphasized the importance of fair and accurate coverage of the process.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang also urged the Electoral Commission (EC) to maintain fairness and balance throughout the exercise.

Addressing the security services directly, she encouraged them to reflect on the prevailing economic hardships when casting their votes, suggesting that these conditions should guide their decision-making.

“Monday, December 2, the election process will start for those taking part in the special voting process. I want the media to provide fair coverage of the process. For our security people, we expect them to be fair in their duties. The election is not only about Monday, it’s a whole process,” the NDC Vice Presidential candidate said.

“You know we protested against people coming to the District to vote and a lot of them will be first-time voters. The old system of bringing the voters close to where they vote would have saved us a lot of public education.

“This is where we are now and we are hoping for the best. I don’t think there was any time that the NDC was in government that the media or police had to go to another country because they couldn’t work in their own country.

“There was never a situation where a media person was picked up from his or her office because he or she spoke against the government and so the NDC has been fair to the media and police,” Professor Opoku Agyemang stated.
