DSP Nana Boakye Yiadom, the Wenchi Municipal Police Commander, is currently undergoing treatment at the Bono Regional Teaching Hospital in Sunyani after being brutally attacked by an unidentified youth group.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, December 10, in Tohaba, a suburb of the Wenchi Municipality, following the arrest of a suspect’s wife. Reports indicate that the arrest triggered a violent reaction from local youth, resulting in chaos.
During the unrest, the Police Commander’s vehicle was vandalized, a television set was destroyed, and the cells at the police station were broken into, leading to the escape of eight inmates.
Although calm has since been restored to the Wenchi Municipality, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
The Bono Regional Police Command has declined to comment on the assault and the circumstances surrounding it. Investigations are expected to uncover the identities of the perpetrators and determine the motive behind the attack.
